Last week the Ladies golf section at Jumeriah Golf Estates competed in the monthly Park Hyatt Dubai event.

The format was a Pairs Betterball where each participant played their own ball on each hole, and the best Stableford score from the pair counted towards the points. The ladies were playing from the Orange tee markers off their full course handicap.

The winners of the penultimate Park Hyatt Dubai ladies event before the summer break were Bettina Schrockenfuchs (21) and Moira Halkett (27) with a dazzling score of 46 Stableford points. The pair made a brilliant start picking up five net birdies in their first five holes, both contributing equally.

Hole 14 was where the pair faltered due to two tough breaks. The momentum did not stop as they made up for their mistake with a superb net eagle two on the following hole.

The runners-up by just one Stableford point were Jane Vorster (14) and Zia Hosking (25) with 45 Stableford points. They had a very balanced card showing 23 Stableford points on the front nine and 22 on the back nine.

The golf operations team set up two fun on-course competitions. Winning Nearest the Pin on hole 6 was Sheila Mcilroy (9). Nearest the Pin on hole 17 was this month’s main event runner-up, Jane Vorster (14). Vorster has been doing extremely well in tournament golf at Jumeriah Golf Estates and particular success in the ladies section this season.
