Rory McIlroy and Max Homa broke new ground in modernising the game of golf and for the first time in a major championship took part in a mid-round interview during round one of the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club.
A feet which has been seen before on the DP World Tour, Challenge Tour and LET but never before in a major championship.
Rory McIlroy answered questions with just an Airpod in his ear for the ESPN telecast while playing the ninth hole. The World Number Two told viewers his yardage and what club he would be hitting into the green. A real insight into a players thoughts during tournament play.
Following the shot, McIlroy again spoke to the commentators and explined what happened with the outcome of the shot.
Then, Max Homa later joined the live apperaence on the 14th hole during his round. The American would then go onto eagle the very next hole.
An even-par 72 round left him seven shots off the lead for McIlroy while Homa was one shot better in a tie for 26th spot after round one.
