Manila: A strong magnitude 6.6 earthquake jolted the Philippines on Tuesday night, prompting government seismologists to raise a tsunami warning.
Phivolcs issue the tidal wave warning, urging the public that wave heights of less than one meter above the normal tides are expected after a magnitude 6.6 earthquake hit the waters off Gigomoto in Catanduanes, in eastern Philippines.
The tremors were felt in neighbouring provinces. The quake hit at 8:54 PM on Tuesday, according to Phivolcs. Aftershocks are expected. This story is being updated.
