Dubai based Shiv Kapur (Ind) plays in The DGC Open starting tomorrow (Thursday) at Delhi Golf Club on the Asian Tour.
This is week six of the 2023 schedule and the tournament boasts a prizefund of $750,000.
A 132 player field will compete over the redesigned Gary Player layout in New Delhi, measuring 6,935 yards and playing a par72.
Shiv said prior to the first round, “I started playing golf here as a nine year-old, I spent more hours here as a kid than in my house growing up. In 2017 at the Panasonic Open – India, I realised my dream of winning an Asian Tour title in front of my family and friends and all the staff at the golf club were like my family."
Memorable victories
He added, "That event was one of my most memorable victories as a Professional. It is never easy to re-design a classic golf course. I personally like the re-design that Mr Player oversaw in 2019, it has made the approaches to the green a bit harder and it requires a wider array of short game shots to score well.”
Shiv tees off in round one at 12.10 pm from tee one, alongside Gunn Charoenkul (Thai), currently sixth in the Merit Table and Taehee Lee (South Korea) in 44th.
Shiv lies in 90th place in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, after three tournaments in Saudi, Oman and Qatar, making the cut in all three.
