Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has issued directives to set up the Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan Cardiac Catheterisation Unit within the Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Centre in Cairo.

The fully equipped unit will offer free curative services as well as cardiac catheterization procedures to underprivileged children and patients from all over the Arab world.

Sir Magdi Yacoub, a renowned Egyptian-British heart surgeon, thanked Sheikh Mohammed for his gesture, which will have a significant impact on the lives of thousands of patients.

The unit will include operation rooms that use latest medical technology and robotic surgery to be able to conduct 9,000 catheterisation surgeries.
